Food - 4 stars; Service - 3 stars. For being a small restaurant, they sure do have a good crowd in there. We only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table and managed to find the last two seats at the bar while we waited (a nice group of people slid down so we could have the two seats together). Our server was very nice and obviously busy, with having a packed restaurant and all. Everything was very timely except that he never came back to check on our meal after it was delivered, despite walking by the table several times. Thankfully, our meals were perfectly cooked, but Tawheed did want more bread and we finally were able to flag him down towards the tail end of the meal.
We shared the tomato-potato soup which was topped with crab meat as an appetizer, as was recommended by my coworker who happened to be at the table next to us. Excellent choice. Entrees are served with a small house salad with some kind of ginger dressing, which was light and tasty.
I chose the Quinoa Chipotle Crusted Salmon over Cannellini Beans with Swiss Chard and Smoked Tomato Puree, all of which is just a wordy way of saying “exactly what I wanted.” Best cooked salmon I’ve had in a long time. It was perfect all the way through and not overcooked on either of the ends, and the quinoa crust was slightly crispy and very flavorful. The chipotle added a subtle amount of heat. Tawheed liked mine better than his meal, not to say that he didn’t like his, but mine was better. Plus, Tawheed’s choice was very similar to a seafood pasta he makes at home from time to time. The “name” of the dish was another lengthy one: Linguini, Squid, Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster with Broccoli Rabe, Roasted Tomatoes, Peccorino, and Pine Nut Pesto Jus.
